Do deep condition regularly
Hair that is deep conditioned regularly make its more manageable, softer, moisturised and less prone to breakage. How often you deep condition is dependent on your hair.
Do use heat
If you want your deep condition to work extra well on your hair, warm up conditioner. Heating the product in hot water will allow it to speed up the adsorption adhesion.
Do switch it up
Make sure you alter your deep conditioners between moisturising conditioners and protein deep conditioners, to help keep your hair strong, soft and nourished. For moisture opt for conditioners that have fatty alcohols like cetyl, stearyl, and cetearyl, plus emollient butters and oils, humectants like glycerin and aloe vera, and ceramides. For strengthening treatments, look for ingredients like hydrolyzed proteins, amino acids and keratin.
Don’t overdo it
You may think the longer it stays on, the more benefits. If you leave the conditioner for too long it can result in the hair turning limp and weak, we suggest leaving for 20-30 mins.
You shouldn’t use your deep conditioner as anything except a deep conditioner i.e- not as a leave-in or co-wash. Deep conditioners have unique formulas which can harm the hair if not used appropriately.
Don’t invite Bacteria
Avoid leaving your DIY deep conditioners in storage for a long time, as they won’t contain any preservatives like the store-bought deep conditioners. DIY masks are amazing for getting natural ingredients to nourish your hair, however, only mix enough deep conditioner for a single use every time.
